Last month we saw the iPhone XS Max beat out Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 in a relay race-style speed test. Today, we’re getting a look at a battery comparison test between the two flagship smartphones and the Note 9 has really outperformed the XS Max battery life.
PhoneBuff showed off a cool new robotic arm-based system with its last speed test and the YouTuber is making use of the same precise approach with this new Note 9 vs. iPhone XS Max battery test.
While the Note 9 has about a 20% larger battery capacity of 4,000 mAh compared to 3,174 mAh on the XS Max battery, an optimistic view might offer the idea that the more advanced A12 Bionic chip could close the gap in battery life. Sadly, that’s not the case.
This battery test runs through everyday tasks like a phone call, texting, gaming, browsing social media, watching video, and more. PhoneBuff made sure to make all settings equal and even did the same test two times, seeing the same results.
In the first test, the iPhone XS Max was more efficient with an hour-long phone call only losing 3% battery, while the Note 9 lost 5%, but the iPhone lost ground quickly on every other test. When the XS Max died, the Note 9 still had 37% battery.
