The prize for the Justice League Snyder Cut fan poster contest brings with it significant implications for certain characters in the movie. Snyder announced the contest back in January, with over 1,200 submissions being entered. With Snyder having narrowed the competition down to four finalists, his new revelation of the prize itself may be the biggest bomb he’s ever dropped in his social media teases.

The prize is the slate used on the set of Justice League, which also features a message from Snyder that the winner will be granted entry to any additional photography on the film “in the unlikely and purely speculative event that such photography is needed.” The slate specifies the hypothetical scenes in question would involve Batman, Superman, Lois Lane, and Martian Manhunter, with the date of filming listed as “TBD”. As with all things related to the Snyder Cut, there’s a lot to unpack here.

The biggest implication is that the slate’s message is the indication that Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Harry Lennix would be involved in any prospective pick-up scenes that Snyder is referencing. Considering that Affleck has seemingly shut the door on a return to the cowl, and the uncertainly that has surrounded Cavill’s future as Superman for some time now, the hypothetical scenario of the two returning for additional scenes for Snyder’s movie is already saying a lot. Add Adams and Lennix into the equation, and Snyder’s message signals that he has bigger ideas at play for releasing the Justice League Snyder Cut than he’s previously let on.

Additionally, Snyder’s message also opens the question of just what any additional scenes in the movie would consist of. Snyder had previously revealed that the General Swanwick portion of the movie’s Martian Manhunter reveal was not filmed, so that is the most obvious scene that he is referring to. Beyond that, its all open to speculation, but with Superman and Lois Lane’s inclusion on the slate, its a good bet that the latter’s originally planned death at the hands of Darkseid is another. What additional photography there is that could involve Batman is less clear, but his inclusion on the slate, along with the open support that Ben Affleck has shown for the Snyder Cut’s release in recent days, Snyder’s message nevertheless signals some additional material involving The Dark Knight would be on the cards.

Of course, all of this is contingent on the Snyder Cut’s release being approved by Warner Bros., and thus far, the studio has not announced any plans to do so. With that being said, the topic has taken on a whole new level of mainstream hype within the past few months with public interest in it clearly growing. Additionally, numerous cast and crew members have also become increasingly candid in publicly supporting its release, especially Jason Momoa.

While additional photography for the movie seems like a long shot, and is a point acknowledged by Snyder’s message, the very idea nevertheless brings with it some huge implications. What’s more, it also continues a recent pattern by Snyder of being far more open in his social media teases, which itself could be saying quite a lot. For now, the world will have to continue waiting to see what further developments await the Justice League Snyder Cut, but it is a certainty at this point that the book on it is far from closed.
