Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ Kanye West has adopted a stricter parenting style with his four children in the wake of his spiritual life change, according to Kim Kardashian. While the star has been open about his own journey towards a stronger sense of spirituality, Kim’s comments make it clear that his new perspective affects more than just himself and his music.

While Kanye has been open about his Christian beliefs, his brand new album - released on October 25th - marked a significant shift for the mainstream rapper. Unlike previous singles released here and there that embraced Kanye’s love of Christian music, such as the 2004 song “Jesus Walks,” Jesus Is King is an entire gospel album dedicated to Kanye’s Christian beliefs. Kanye followed up the album by announcing at his listening party that he would no longer be making secular music, and that spirituality would be his only theme from now on. His life change was also addressed in late October when a new episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians showed Kanye telling Kim that her dress for this year’s Met Gala was “too sexy.” Kim pushed his comments away, explaining that just because he was on a transformation and a journey didn’t mean she was on the same path as him. However, when it comes to their children, it seems the stars have to find a middle ground.

In a recent interview, Kim addressed the impact Kanye’s life change was having on their family unit. According to Us Weekly, Kanye’s increasingly spiritual perspective has led him to be more strict with their four children. Kim explained that Kanye removed the TVs from the children’s room and stopped allowing North to wear makeup until she’s a teenager. He’s also more cautious of what they allow in the house and the imagery that their children are being exposed to. Some of these changes definitely haven’t gone over well. Kim explained, “North is trying to get in on the makeup, but she’s being blocked heavily.” She continued, “It’s a big discussion, a big fight in the household right now.”

Even though the children may not agree with Kanye’s shift, Kim seems to agree with most of his new tactics. She said, “With this, we were having the conversation of, ‘What is too much?’” The makeup-mogul continued, “There’s that fine line of staying firm and doing what you feel comfortable with. I respect what he’s saying and totally compromise.” She also stated that she thinks Kanye’s journey is a great example for their kids on growing and expanding your point of view as you get older. Throughout the interview, Kim explained that the change in Kanye is definitely obvious and that the subsequent shift in his parenting tactics is certainly an adjustment, but one that she stands behind.

While Kanye is known for over-the-top antics and unreliable behavior, his newest shift isn’t exactly a surprise. He’s always been vocal about his Christian beliefs and has moved more and more towards the church as he’s grown older. His new parenting tactics certainly aren’t harmful to his children. In fact, they indicate an involved dad who cares about the overall well-being of his little ones. While everyone may not agree with his new rules, he and his wife are clearly on the same page, which is all that really matters.
