Keanu Reeves is the latest celebrity to make his way over to Hideo Kojima’s studio, Kojima Productions, in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan. Kojima is well known among gamers as the mind behind the Metal Gear Solid series as well as PS4’s upcoming exclusive, Death Stranding. Hardcore fans, however, know Kojima as an avid movie and music fan. He always gushes about films on his personal Twitter and even went as far as creating a Very Easy Mode in Death Stranding for movie fans. Over the years since the title began development, a number of notable figures from various entertainment industries have made their way to his studio for one reason or another, some of who even later made it into Death Stranding.
Conan O’Brien, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Grimes, CHVRCHES, Bring Me the Horizon, Edgar Wright, and more have all visited Kojima’s studio. As for who’s in Death Stranding, the game stars Norman Reedus and will also include Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Guillermo del Toro. Geoff Keighley, one of Kojima’s longtime friends and the person behind The Game Awards, was even recently revealed as making an appearance in Death Stranding. Reeves, however, is actually appearing in another upcoming game from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077, but could a role in Kojima’s Death Stranding happen as well?
Kojima shared on his various social media accounts that Keanu Reeves happened to stop by the studio recently, posting pictures that show both Reeves and Kojima striking a couple of fun poses. During San Diego Comic-Con, Kojima actually talked about how Reeves was almost in Death Stranding, having been recommended to him for the role that eventually went to Mikkelsen. Of course, fans can still dream of what a Death Stranding with Keanu Reeves might’ve looked like, and they can enjoy these photos of Reeves with Kojima (below).
Reeves recently became the celebrity heartthrob of the gaming industry after it was announced he would be taking on the role of a key character in Cyberpunk 2077. What was even better than the announcement, though, was when Reeves took the stage at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference and called fans “breathtaking.” This is in addition to what’s already been a great year for Reeves thanks to John Wick 3, his scene-stealing roles in both Toy Story 4 and Always Be My Maybe, and that video of him answering questions while playing with puppies.
Hopefully, this latest visit at Kojima Productions blossoms into a wonderful friendship between the prolific developer and actor. As of right now, the studio seems to be fully focused on polishing Death Stranding for its November 8 release date. What’s on the horizon for Kojima Productions after Death Stranding launches on PS4 still remains to be seen, but it’s sure to be something worth getting exited about.
