Apple’s Tim Cook and Craig Federighi have been ordered to testify in the company’s ongoing legal battle with Epic Games. New court filings this week indicate that Epic is making a long list of requests for documents and testimonies from Apple, and Apple argues that these requests will place a large burden on the company. As first noted by iMore, the filing indicates that Epic is asking Apple to supply “extensive documentation” regarding the App Store and its various policies....

A new image has leaked on Chinese social media site Weibo, claiming to show an iPhone 7 with an edge-to-edge screen. The top and bottom chins appear to be unchanged, with the Home button and speaker in the usual positions. Nevertheless, eliminating the left and right bezels would be a major design change for the phone and is currently not supported by any other rumors. Previous Chinese media photos purported to show the rear of the phone, which looked almost identical to the current iPhone 6s....

Update: New details at the bottom … The rumor mill for the iPhone 8 is seemingly flip-flopping between two distinct designs for Apple’s 2017 flagship iPhone, one made of aluminium and another more drastic look with a curved glass front and back. The latest unverified leaks from today depict the latter device. These photo show an iPhone made of glass and stainless steel with the front screen seemingly going edge-to-edge with no discernible bezel....

AnandTech dug into the FCC filings for the new iPhones to reveal that the iPhone 5s battery offers approximately 10 percent more capacity than its predecessor, while the 5c battery offers a more modest 5 percent gain. That’s a different size battery (5.96Wh vs 5.92Wh) than we’d seen in supposed 5s prototypes … Actual battery-life for the iPhone 5s will be interesting to see. The beefier A7 CPU will consume more power, while the M7 coprocessor that handles some of the background tasks should reduce battery consumption....
