Analytics company Mixpanel has become a reliable source of iOS adoption information, but its tools also allow for tracking of iPhone model adoption. There’s been a lot of news about slowing iPhone sales, and Mixpanel’s data offers some interesting insight on that speculation. The company’s data comes from analytics frameworks inside apps and mobile websites, which are able to view iPhone model numbers and other details. According to the Mixpanel data, the iPhone XR is in fact the best-selling iPhone model each week, echoing what Apple VP Greg Joswiak said last month....

The New York Times has published a new report that largely reaffirms what countless observers have said before. In comparison to Jobs, Cook is less connected to the “minutiae” of product development, instead preferring to delegate to his other executives to lead design. Producer Jason Blum says that Happy Death Day 3 isn’t very likely to happen, following Happy Death Day 2U’s under-performance at the box office. The original Happy Death Day was also produced by Blum and hit theaters back in October 2017. Typically described as a cross between a slasher film and Groundhog Day (a movie that Happy Death Day even name-drops at one point), the horror-comedy starred Jessica Rothe as Tree, a college student who’s trapped in a time loop where she’s murdered on her birthday, over and over again....

Aquaman star Jason Momoa posts a hyped video response to DC’s future movie plans after a meeting with Warner Bros. about what’s coming - potentially teasing Aquaman 2. Momoa joined Warner Bros’ Worlds of DC franchise when Zack Snyder cast him as Arthur Curry for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. TUAW reports that according to a purported e-mail from Steve Jobs the next version of Keynote will include a sort of AirPlay functionality. Specifically, users of Keynote ’11 will be able to create a presentation and stream it to the big screen via an Apple TV. This functionality will apparently also work from an iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) to an Apple TV. This function will come in handy for many people as it could help alleviate the need of setting up projectors and annoying things along those lines....

A judge is allowing a lawsuit from AAPL investors who claim that CEO Tim Cook made statements that ‘were materially false and misleading,’ resulting in them losing billions of dollars. The lawsuit has been brought by a UK pension fund which was invested in the company … The Norfolk Pension Fund is run by Norfolk County Council. If losing money on AAPL investments seems kind of strange, it’s because the dispute dates back to November 2018....

A judge decided today to deny media requests for a public release of Steve Jobs’ videotaped deposition in last week’s iPod antitrust case. Apple had been fighting back against these requests, saying that members of the press who wanted to air the video just wanted to see “a dead man.” The ruling essentially states that since live testimony from witnesses was not recorded and then released to the media, the Jobs deposition should not be either....
