This year has no shortage of massive franchise installments and blockbusters, but one of the largest on the horizon is Justice League. Zack Snyder’s third installment in the DC Extended Universe is set to bring various superheroes together, including Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. Superman is also going to be part of the proceedings, though the character has been absent from the marketing materials thus far. This probably has to do with the way his arc ended in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and his resurrection is meant to be a surprise for the audience....

Years of Justice League Dark stories have all been leading to the arrival of The Witching War, as the magical heroes of the DC Universe prepare for a fight unlike any they’ve faced before. And considering the threats they’ve met and sent packing already, that really is saying something. But their next foe will either define them… or defeat them. In the previous issue of Tynion and Bueno’s Justice League Dark, John Constantine appeared to tell Wonder Woman that if she was looking for an answer to the team’s (and her own) recent troubles, the answer was in the ally she never expected....

Sam Elliott’s villain in Justified season 6 reminded everybody just how good the veteran actor can be. Sam Elliott is instantly recognizable due to his trademark mustache and deep voice, and he’s appeared in just about every genre imaginable, from drama to comedy and comic book movies. His most iconic roles is probably The Stranger from The Big Lebowski, who acts as the narrator of the Coen brothers oddball comedy. Other cult favorites featuring the actor including 1989’s Road House and Tombstone alongside Kurt Russell....

Opera MediaWorks is out today with its latest report on the state of mobile platforms for Q3 2013. The report, which gathers data from billions of ad impressions each month, notes that iOS continues the lead for mobile advertising, with around 44.4% of all ad requests and 50% of revenue on its platform. That’s compared to 31.32% for Android, but the lead for Apple is mostly thanks to gains from iPad....

Let’s just cut to the chase: if you already own 2018’s refresh of the iPad Pro, you probably shouldn’t upgrade to the 2020 edition. That’s because this latest iPad Pro is more of an incremental update than its predecessors have traditionally been. ArsTechnica has been putting the iPad Pro through its paces in a whole raft of benchmark tests, comparing it to other iOS devices as well as to MacBooks and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. When it comes to other iPads, nothing comes close in Geekbench tests. In single-core tests, the iPad Pro gets an overall score of 3233 against 1831 for the iPad Air 2. The much newer iPhone 6S gets closest, at 2537....

While at least one person in the United States has already received their iPhone 6s after pre-ordering with the rest of us, iPhone 6s launch day has officially kicked off on the other side of the planet. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus go on sale at 8 am local time in a dozen markets around the world. New Zealand goes first at authorized resellers as there are no Apple Stores in the country, then the first Apple Stores in Australia two hours later, followed Japan and China and others before starting in the United States 16 hours from the start....

Did you ever wonder why it took Apple ten months to produce the white iPhone 4, which finally goes on sale tomorrow? According to The Wall Street Journal’s Mobilized blog, white iPhones need UV protection. Author Ina Fried interviewed both Apple’s boss Steve Jobs and marketing honcho Phil Schiller. A video has been released recreating what John Wick may have been like were it a 1980s 8-bit game played on the NES. The film is back in the public consciousness from the recent release of its second sequel, subtitled Parabellum, a Latin phrase translating to “prepare for war” and referring to every assassin within an outlaw subculture seeking the vast bounty on its eponymous protagonist’s head. Released in 2014, John Wick stars Keanu Reeves as a former assassin who had escaped his life of violence....

Disney executives are reportedly worried Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit will alienate fans of the Mouse House when it opens later this year. Based on the novel Caging Skies, Jojo Rabbit tells the story Jojo Betzler, a Hitler youth who discovers his mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their home. As one might expect, this makes life quite confusing for Jojo, whose closest companion is his imaginary friend, a fictionalized version of Adolf Hitler....

Joker’s box office success proves Marvel isn’t the only way when it comes to comic book films. From the time it was announced, it was clear Todd Phillips’ Joker was going to be a change-of-pace for the genre. Drawing heavily from Martin Scorsese classics like Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy (among other notable influences), the film is much more of a psychological character study than a spectacle-driven tentpole. It also made headlines for being completely separate from any shared universe, operating independently of the already established DCEU (which had a Joker, played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad)....

Billionaire Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s patent trolling lawsuit filed against Apple, Facebook, Google, YouTube and others has been dismissed by the courts. “Plaintiff has failed to identify the infringing products or devices with any specificity,” wrote U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman in her order to dismiss. “The Court and Defendants are left to guess what devices infringe on the four patents. Allen was claiming that the companies had violated four patents developed by Internal Research (a research firm he funded)....

Remember that class-action lawsuit alleging AppleCare+ customers were being given subpar replacement products? This week a federal judge rejected the case while calling the plantiffs’ lawyer “manifestly incompetent” and suggesting the counsel orchestrated the entire case. ArsTechnica reports the judge’s rejection this week claimed the lawyer encouraged the plaintiffs to purchase AppleCare plans and record interactions with Apple employees “for the purpose of initiating this lawsuit.” But none of the plaintiffs were disgruntled consumers who went looking for a lawyer after getting bad service....

Today at CES 2017, Kanex announced its new GoPlay Series of portable wireless game controllers for iOS and tvOS. The first release in the series, the GoPlay SideKick, is a pocket-sized wireless gaming controller that works with the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. The GoPlay SideKick is MFi-certified, and hence will work with most of the games available on the App Store with built-in support for MFi controllers. The SideKick features a 20-hour rechargeable battery and features Bluetooth 4....

While yesterday’s iPad numbers don’t look great – down 12.5% year-on-year, the third successive quarter in which sales have fallen – Tim Cook remains upbeat about the product, stating that it “has a great future” and that its long-term prospects are more important than “individual 90-day clicks.” Quartz‘s Dan Frommer pulled together some of the things Cook has to say about the device, and while you’d clearly expect Apple’s CEO to put the best possible spin on things, he makes some reasonable arguments … First, argued Cook, the numbers are not as bad as they seem....

According to Macotakara, Apple has plans to cut out the Space Gray version of the iPhone 7 this time around and replace it with a deep blue iPhone color. From my point of view, Apple has played so fast and loose with the term “space gray” that this deep blue might be an evolution of the color. Seriously though. Apple has a blue iPod Touch (remember those things #TBT) which could serve as a base point for a deep blue iPhone but in reality I’m not putting a lot of hope in this one becoming real....
