Facial and gesture recognition could be some of the flagship features of Apple’s new iPhone 8 expected later this year, according to one analyst. Cowen’s Timothy Arcuri (via Business Insider) believes the next iPhone will gain a new front-facing sensor that will be used for these features. Arcuri tells the firm’s clients that the expected iPhone 8 will include a new 5.8-inch model with an OLED wraparound display, wireless charging, “some form of facial/gesture recognition supported by a new laser sensor and an infrared sensor mounted near the front-facing camera”, and Touch ID embedded in the display....

Warner Bros. have something big planned for Superman. The Justice League trailer was full of awesome DC moments - from a newly-purposed Bruce Wayne hunting down the metahumans to Aquaman riding the Batmobile before taking on parademons - but one thing notably absent was Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. The China Times is reporting that Apple has begun production of the iWatch. This is in preparation for a launch later in the year, widely rumoured to be sometime in the third quarter. GforGames translated the report, noting that the iWatch will use a different kind of chip layout for miniaturization purposes. According to supply chain sources cited by the Chinese media, Apple has already started producing the iWatch in small quantities....

Jamf has just announced that it is adding support for Microsoft Azure Active Directory to Jamf Pro. This announcement comes on the heels of the partnership that Jamf announced last at its user conference. Organizations who use Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) and Jamf can now skip creating a local account on macOS, and go straight to using Active Directory. It’s now easy to use Azure Active Directory on a Mac....

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Joker. Todd Phillips’ Joker appears to give a nod to the Joker’s original sidekick from the comics, Gaggy, in the form of Arthur Fleck’s fellow clown, Gary. Played by Leigh Gill, Gary is one of a number of clowns-for-hire who work alongside Arthur at the agency, and his dwarfism makes him the target of cruel jokes from the other clowns. Like Arthur, Gary is something of an underdog - which is why it makes sense that he could represent Joker’s first sidekick....

There’s not a whole lot here that we haven’t heard before, but today Nikkei Asian Review reports that orders into component suppliers indicate Apple’s next-gen iPhone will debut as early as September in two new screen sizes. As reported previously by Bloomberg, WSJ, and others, Nikkei says Apple will introduce a new 4.7-inch iPhone alongside a larger 5.5-inch model. The report’s cites sources in Apple’s supply chain and says Apple’s display suppliers– Sharp, Japan Display, & LG– plan mass production of LCD panels sometime between April-June:...
