Star Wars: Episode IX director J.J. Abrams revealed he almost turned down the opportunity to helm the film. Abrams, of course, kicked off the franchise’s sequel trilogy in 2015 with The Force Awakens and wasn’t initially pegged to return for another installment. Originally, Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow was selected to helm Episode IX, but he departed the project in 2017 due to creative differences with Lucasfilm. Not long after that, Abrams was hired to direct, co-writing a new script with Chris Terrio....

Following stats from comScore late last month for smartphone market share by vendor and OS, research firm Kantar Worldpanel is out today with its own numbers for the three month period ending in May. As rumored earlier in the week, prominent Chinese retailers have cut the price of iPhone XR, and other models, as Apple faces demand weakness in the region. Leading resellers JD.com and Suning have cut the sales price of iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and XR this week by about 20%. Apple has not changed pricing on its website. JD.com has lowered the price of the iPhone 8 to 3999 yuan, which is about 20% lower than what the phone sells for on Apple’s own website....
